Sex Offender
In accordance with Iowa Code Chapter 692A adopted effectively July 1, 2009, the Board of Trustees of the Maquoketa Public Library declares that a sex offender who has been convicted of a sex offense against a minor shall not be present upon the real property of the Maquoketa Public Library without the written permission of the Library Director.
The Library Director shall not give written permission for a sex offender who has been convicted of a sex offense against a minor to be present upon the real property of the Maquoketa Public Library unless such permission is approved by vote of the Board of Trustees at a meeting where a quorum of the Board of Trustees is present.
A sex offender who has been convicted of a sex offense against a minor remains entitled to library service. It is the responsibility of the patron to arrange for a courier to select, check out, and return materials to the library through the use of the patron’s library card.
Persons who are not allowed on the premises of the library as set forth above will not be served by the library’s homebound delivery service.
Any person who is believed by library staff to be in violation of this policy shall be immediately reported to law enforcement.
