New Catalog!

Below is the recording of a class held January 10, 2023 to go over use of the catalog.

Below is the update email sent out 10/25/2022. We want to let you know all about the changes to our catalog and what they mean for you. The biggest need-to-know is that we have a new catalog and you can log in using your library card number as both the User Name and Password. Read more below and please let us know if you have questions.

We're making some changes!

We try not to send many non-newsletter emails unless it's important, and that is the case with what we want to tell you. Over the past week, we have been hard at work migrating to a new library system. There are a few changes we need to tell you about. So what do these changes mean for you? Here are the broad strokes:

  1. Our catalog has changed. We have updated the link on our website but if you have it bookmarked, you'll want to update your link to: https://maquoketa.insigniails.com/Library/Home. Jump to section.
  2. Your password/PIN has changed for your library account. Your PIN for the new catalog is already set for your account (it's your library card number), and your Bridges password will change to that soon. Jump to section.
  3. Your checkout history did not transfer to the new system, but we can provide you with a list if you like. Jump to section.
Please scroll on to learn more about each of these changes, we will do everything we can to make this transition as easy as possible!

1. The New Catalog

Above is the homepage of the new catalog. This is what it'll look like on your computer. Things will change over time, but this is what you'll see for now. Similar to our previous catalog, you can log into your account and do a number of things. Let's take a look at how you'll do that.
You'll find a login button in the upper right hand corner of the page. Once you log into your account, you can do a number of things. Hover over "My Account" on the catalog homepage, and a menu will show up. From there you can:
  • Change password: Go to My Bio and click Change Password
  • See your checked out items: Go to My Borrowing --> Loans
  • Renew items: From the Loans page, select items and hit Renew
  • View your checkout history: Go to Historical Data --> Loan History
To place a reserve, search for the book and, once you find it, hit the Reserve button. It will tell you if there are other people on the list.
2. Bridges Password Change
Some time soon, your Bridges password will switch to match your password in the new library catalog. The password defaults to your library card number, which means you'll use your library card number as both login and password. If you suddenly find that you are kicked out of your Bridges account, this is most likely the reason. Nothing in your account will change! We will try to update you once we know exactly when this will happen.

One big change to remember is library staff will no longer have access to your password. While we can help you change it, we won't have any record of what it is.
3. Checkout History
Our new system did not import the history for every patron. However, we'll have access to the old data through November. If you would like us to email you a list of all the items you checked out before the switch, please follow this link and fill out the form.
